A Woman Empowered
Excerpts from the book, 'A Woman Empowered', by Rachel D Fox
You’re a leader. You might be a mom, a wife, a sister, or an auntie. You might be the CEO of a company. You might be the owner of your own business. You might be an associate pastor in your local church. Whatever roles you play in this life, you are called to leadership and to influence others.
Leadership is showing up in all areas of our lives, even on a daily basis. It’s not just about being an executive and leading at work. It’s about being a mom and knowing something isn’t right with your child, and having the courage to step out and make sure they are taken care of.
I believe we are all called to leadership in some way. We are called to leadership because of what we know and who we are. We are called to lead when there is no one else who is willing to take the initiative. We lead when there is a need and when we have the ability to make a difference. A leader is not always at the front of the pack, but sometimes they find themselves there because they have been called to be a voice for change.
I am a mother. I am a woman. I am a Black woman. I believe that my children will grow up with the knowledge and support of their mother, who is also their leader. They will know that because I was willing to make sacrifices for them, my children will be able to follow in my footsteps someday and become leaders themselves.
I want to inspire women like myself who are nontraditional students and give them hope that they can achieve their goals too. I want to encourage them and let them know they can do whatever they set their minds on regardless of how far they are in life or what they have been through.
