Hey girl, are you okay? The past couple of months have been strange. I think that might be an understatement for some. I can remember telling my husband that I wish I could go one day without hearing or seeing anything about Corona Virus. Now, I find myself checking the unfolding updates, store closings, and most importantly; who in the hell keeps taking all the toilet paper?
Let me take a beat and talk about this a little more because it really bothers me. I have a family size of 8 in our home right now and we USE toilet paper. Right now, as I type, we have 4 rolls left and we can’t find ANYWHERE that has toilet paper. It’s kind of funny because I don’t think COVID-19 causes a mass amount of diarrhea. On the other hand, it’s not funny because I know there are people who are sitting in their homes with more than enough while others are praying to figure out where they will get something as basic as toilet paper.

Now, back to you. How are you dealing with being at home? If you’re like me, I have worked from home before so that’s not a big deal. Add some little kiddos to the mix and now you’ve got some interesting dynamics to navigate. I have to apologize before each phone or video conference because I know without fail one of my children will need something but ONLY when I’m busy. Isn’t that funny? Seriously. Think about it. The kids can be sleeping so soundly and the moment you get on the phone, they arise and need a glass of milk or something else that only you can provide.
And it never quite comes out like a perfect pixabay photo, does it? Honestly, I wanted to check in because I know it is a very frightening time in life right now. There are so many unknowns and rapid changes. We don’t know the gravity of this disease. We don’t know who has it. We only know what is being told to us through media and sometimes that is so depressing to watch. Here’s my advice girl.
Take everything one day at a time…one step at a time…moment by moment. Cherish the time you have if you are now working from home. Be grateful for each moment of life you have. Check-in with your friends and family. Like I said in my other post, take a moment to settle matters with your enemies. Take some time to reflect on what really matters in times like this. Personally, I come from a foundation of faith, so I lean heavily on prayer and the Bible. That helps me.

Laugh girl. It releases something inside that produces healing. Find that one YouTube where Fergie sang the National Anthem during NBA All-Star Weekend. Now, it wasn’t her singing so much that was funny. It was the reactions of the people that gives me a belly laugh.
Check the remix someone made on YouTube and thank me later. Lock yourself in the bathroom and soak in the tub with a single candle and a good book. Self-care is still a thing even in the midst of all this.
Think about when things go back to “normal” (whatever that is), you will look back on the time when you were forced to slow down. At the end of the day, it’s all about perspective. How will you choose to see this moment? Will you be overwhelmed by fear or will you actively seek after peace? I choose peace girl. I hope you do too.
We WILL get through this.
